Obere Isarau: Kleinlappen
City part: Schwabing-Freimann | State: 2024
Kleinlappen is a sparsely built northern area between Isar landscapes and major infrastructure. Open land, technical facilities and little conventional housing give it a strongly peripheral, functional character. The Isar provides a continuous recreational corridor, linking riverbanks, cycling routes, swimming places and wooded slopes across several neighboring quarters. Water is not only a backdrop here; it directs walking and cycling routes, opens long views and creates informal places for rest, sport and summer recreation. Large plots, deep building footprints and service yards set a different scale from surrounding residential streets and make the area’s productive function immediately legible. Deliveries, shift changes and service traffic produce a working-day rhythm that differs clearly from the quieter evenings and weekends of nearby housing areas. Freight movements, shift changes and service traffic produce a rhythm very different from a residential quarter and show how closely employment infrastructure is woven into Munich’s urban fabric.
