About Nachbaria

Nachbaria began in 2019 with a personal challenge. While searching for a home in Hamburg, I discovered how difficult it was to find clear and reliable information about the city’s different neighbourhoods. Choosing where to live is an important and often long-term decision, yet the available information was fragmented, difficult to interpret or based largely on personal opinions.

I built a small map-based prototype for my own housing search and shared it with friends. They passed the link on to others, and Nachbaria gradually developed into a public platform.

Today, Nachbaria helps individuals and families evaluate neighbourhoods in major German cities. Instead of spending hours searching through different websites, reports and forum discussions, users receive relevant housing insights in one place.

Nachbaria’s neighbourhood assessments are based exclusively on official data published by federal, state and municipal authorities. This trusted information is carefully processed and transformed into clear, practical insights that can be understood without specialist knowledge.

District profiles provide an accessible overview of the area, including its social situation, development and potential challenges. The Nachbaria district rating turns complex information into a clear first orientation and makes it easier to compare different parts of a city. The goal is not to label a neighbourhood as universally “good” or “bad,” but to help users identify areas that may better suit their own priorities and circumstances.

Nachbaria is designed to reduce uncertainty during the housing search. It gives users a reliable starting point for comparing alternatives, asking the right questions and making more informed housing decisions.

Because the home matters—and so does the neighbourhood.
