Alte Heide - Hirschau: Hirschau
City part: Schwabing-Freimann | State: 2024
Hirschau is the principal green space in this part of Alte Heide - Hirschau. Paths, trees and open ground interrupt the surrounding built fabric, creating room for walking, play and informal encounters close to home. The edges are especially characteristic: ordinary streets give way quickly to a quieter landscape, while nearby housing keeps the space embedded in daily neighbourhood life. The Hirschau is the quieter northern part of the English Garden, with broad meadows, woodland and long paths. Immediate access to the English Garden makes one of Europe’s largest urban parks part of the daily route rather than a destination reserved for occasional visits. The forest edge changes the area’s daily geography: ordinary residential streets quickly open onto longer walking and cycling routes with a noticeably quieter soundscape. Seasonal change is part of the experience: shade, flowering vegetation, autumn color and winter openness alter both the appearance and the intensity of use.
