Alte Heide - Hirschau: Eisbachüberleitung
City part: Schwabing-Freimann | State: 2024
Eisbachüberleitung gives this part of Alte Heide - Hirschau its strongest landscape identity. The watercourse shapes walking and cycling routes, opens views between the trees and separates the surrounding built areas without cutting them off. Its banks and adjacent paths create a quieter everyday setting than the nearby streets and make water a practical part of local recreation. The Hirschau is the quieter northern part of the English Garden, with broad meadows, woodland and long paths. Immediate access to the English Garden makes one of Europe’s largest urban parks part of the daily route rather than a destination reserved for occasional visits. The forest edge changes the area’s daily geography: ordinary residential streets quickly open onto longer walking and cycling routes with a noticeably quieter soundscape. Seasonal change is part of the experience: shade, flowering vegetation, autumn color and winter openness alter both the appearance and the intensity of use.
