Dornbusch-Ost: Bertramswiesen

Bertramswiesen is a green sports area in eastern Dornbusch, close to the Hessischer Rundfunk broadcasting complex. Playing fields, club facilities, allotments and open lawns create a broad break in the otherwise residential urban fabric. The surrounding streets contain a mix of detached houses, interwar housing and apartment buildings, with gardens and mature trees giving the area a settled character. Bertramstraße links the sports grounds with the busy Eschersheimer Landstraße, where U-Bahn services provide quick access to the centre; within the green area, however, walking paths and local routes dominate. Activity changes with training schedules and weekend matches, while outside these periods the landscape feels calm and lightly used. The nearby broadcasting buildings add an institutional presence without turning the area into a conventional office district. Bertramswiesen is distinctive because recreation, media institutions and residential life meet within a short distance, offering Dornbusch a practical everyday open space rather than a formally designed destination park.
