Dornbusch-Ost: Sinaipark
City part: Mitte-Nord | State: 2025
Sinaipark is one of the principal green spaces serving Dornbusch and the neighbouring parts of Eckenheim. The park combines broad lawns, playgrounds, sports areas and mature tree groups with the more natural ‘Sinai wilderness’, where denser vegetation creates a less managed landscape. It developed on land formerly used for horticulture, and this open structure remains visible between the surrounding apartment streets. Families, schools, runners and dog walkers use the park throughout the day, while local festivals occasionally turn the central meadow into a community meeting place. U-Bahn stations on Eschersheimer Landstraße and nearby bus routes keep the area well connected, but the interior paths feel separated from major traffic. Housing around the edges ranges from interwar estates to later apartment blocks, so the park acts as common ground between different neighbourhoods. Its special quality is the combination of ordinary recreation and a small urban wilderness, allowing active play, informal gatherings and quieter nature experiences within the same green corridor.
