Westend-Süd: Taunusanlage
City part: Innenstadt II | State: 2025
Taunusanlage is a central Wallanlagen section in the banking district. Mature trees, lawns, paths and monuments form a green corridor between Germany’s tallest office towers, including buildings around Neue Mainzer Straße and the Taunustor. The underground S-Bahn station makes the park a commuter route, and thousands of office workers cross it daily between the main station, financial institutions and the city centre. Sculptures and memorials introduce historical and cultural layers, while benches and shaded areas provide brief respite from traffic and dense business activity. The park connects northward toward Bockenheimer Anlage and southward toward Gallusanlage, making it part of a continuous ring around the former old-city fortifications. Its atmosphere changes sharply after office hours and at weekends, when the lawns become quieter. Taunusanlage’s distinctive quality is the direct juxtaposition of landscape and skyline: a nineteenth-century park belt now functions as the everyday pedestrian foreground to Frankfurt’s most concentrated high-rise cluster.
