Riedwiese-Mertonviertel
City part: Nord-West | State: 2025
Riedwiese-Mertonviertel is a mixed office and residential district at the northern edge of the Nidda valley. Modern administrative buildings, corporate campuses and apartment complexes are concentrated around the U-Bahn and major roads. The BaFin headquarters and other federal financial institutions are prominent occupants, while the adjacent Riedwiesen nature area creates a sharp landscape boundary. The district differs from nearby Niederursel through its modern institutional scale and from Riedberg through its stronger office function. In Frankfurt’s statistical structure, Riedwiese-Mertonviertel is associated with the broader Heddernheim/Niederursel area. The immediate contact between urban development and substantial landscape or recreational space is one of the area’s clearest distinguishing qualities. Green and waterside spaces are not merely decorative: they organise walking routes, views and the transition between built-up sections and the surrounding landscape.
