Hausen

B

City part: Mitte-West | State: 2025

Hausen is a small residential district on the Nidda west of the inner city. Its older village streets are combined with post-war apartment blocks, detached houses and commercial areas toward Industriehof. The river, the Hausener open-air pool and paths through the Nidda floodplain provide the main recreational spaces. U-Bahn access and proximity to the A66 make the district well connected, although its internal structure remains compact and predominantly residential. What makes the area distinctive is the legible contrast between inherited settlement patterns and later housing, infrastructure or redevelopment. Older plot boundaries, street widths and surviving buildings make the area’s history visible in everyday movement, even where later development has altered the wider setting. Courtyards, pedestrian links and shared green spaces are therefore important to how the larger housing forms function at neighbourhood level.
