Bockenheim: Industriehof

Industriehof is the business-oriented western edge of Bockenheim, where offices, workshops, hotels and commercial buildings occupy larger plots than historic streets farther east. The quarter grew from industrial and service uses and still feels functional, although housing, student accommodation and everyday businesses give parts of it a mixed character. The former Deutsche Börse complex, now known as the Lateral Towers, is one of the most recognisable office ensembles. U6 and U7 services at Industriehof, together with Ludwig-Landmann-Straße and the nearby motorway approaches, make the area highly accessible but also expose several streets to substantial traffic. Southward, allotments and the Frankfurt Green Belt form a surprisingly green edge, while City West begins beyond the denser commercial zone. Industriehof is less a classic residential neighbourhood than a transition between workplaces, transport infrastructure and quieter housing. Its distinctive quality lies in how quickly large office sites give way to gardens, side streets and Bockenheim’s established urban fabric.
