City-West
City part: Innenstadt II | State: 2025
City-West is a comparatively young mixed-use quarter in southern Bockenheim, developed mainly from the 1990s on formerly commercial and industrial land between Frankfurt West station and Theodor-Heuss-Allee. Its urban form is defined by broad streets, modern office blocks, apartment buildings and several taller structures, with Voltastraße and Ohmstraße forming the central axes. Celsiusplatz and its weekly market provide a recognizable neighborhood center. The district has a business-oriented daytime character, but substantial housing is concentrated in its central section. Railway lines frame much of the area, while the nearby West station and major arterial roads provide strong connections to central Frankfurt and the wider region. In Frankfurt’s statistical structure, City-West is associated with the broader Bockenheim/Westend area. Its special character comes from the direct adjacency of employment and infrastructure to ordinary residential environments.
