Lichterfelde: Landweg
City part: Steglitz-Zehlendorf | State: 2025
Landweg is an almost uninhabited outer area in Lichterfelde, formed largely by the grounds of a former military training site. Open grassland, woodland edges and very little conventional development give it a secluded landscape character rather than the feel of a residential neighborhood. The everyday rhythm of Landweg is shaped by seasonal change, longer sightlines and a noticeably quieter rhythm than on nearby built-up streets. Landweg lies in the borough of Steglitz-Zehlendorf, about 14 km southwest of central Berlin. The transitions from Landweg toward Lichterfelde Süd and Thermometersiedlung are gradual, marked by changes in building form, traffic and greenery. The character of Landweg is clearest along everyday routes between homes, public space and nearby destinations. This gives Landweg a distinctive quality: the everyday value of a green space that is more than a visual backdrop.
