Lichterfelde: Schütte-Lanz-Straße

Schütte-Lanz-Straße lies in an industrial and commercial area, reflecting Berlin’s manufacturing and logistics landscape. Schütte-Lanz-Straße is shaped above all by large plots, workshops, production or logistics uses and the roads or rail infrastructure that support them. In Schütte-Lanz-Straße, the daily character emerges through work-related traffic, functional buildings and sharp transitions to smaller residential streets. Schütte-Lanz-Straße lies in the borough of Steglitz-Zehlendorf, about 13 km southwest of central Berlin. The transitions from Schütte-Lanz-Straße toward Oberhofer Platz and Thermometersiedlung are gradual, marked by changes in building form, traffic and greenery. The immediate streets and open spaces give Schütte-Lanz-Straße a recognisable local identity of its own. Within Lichterfelde, Schütte-Lanz-Straße stands out through Berlin’s working landscape and its close contact with ordinary neighbourhood life.
