Waldperlach: Rockinger Park
City part: Ramersdorf-Perlach | State: 2024
Rockinger Park is a wooded, park-like area with informal paths and a secluded atmosphere. Dense vegetation and quiet clearings make it feel more like a hidden landscape fragment than a formally designed city park. Seasonal change is part of the experience: shade, flowering vegetation, autumn color and winter openness alter both the appearance and the intensity of use. Continuous paths link neighboring streets and districts, allowing the green space to function as both a destination and part of the everyday walking and cycling network. At its edges, the shift from traffic and built frontage to vegetation and open ground is often immediate, which gives the landscape a strong restorative effect. The greenery has a practical everyday role: it shortens the route to recreation, provides shade and play space, and visually separates different groups of buildings. What makes the area especially interesting is the direct contrast between inherited structures and later development; the change can often be read within only a few streets.
