Neuperlach: Siemens City
City part: Ramersdorf-Perlach | State: 2024
Siemens City is a large former corporate campus landscape in Obersendling, shaped by office towers, research buildings and broad internal roads. Ongoing conversion into mixed urban quarters gives the area a distinctive atmosphere between industrial modernism and new city life. Sendling contributes a working-city tradition, railway and market infrastructure, and close access to the Isar, resulting in a grounded and highly practical urban character. Large parcels, robust buildings and technical infrastructure remain legible even where production has declined, so the area’s earlier working history still shapes its scale and atmosphere. Freight movements, shift changes and service traffic produce a rhythm very different from a residential quarter and show how closely employment infrastructure is woven into Munich’s urban fabric. Housing, offices and local services now overlap with traces of the former use, creating a quarter whose new identity still remains connected to earlier layers of the site.
