Alte Heide - Hirschau: Domagkpark

Domagkpark is a new residential quarter on the former Funkkaserne site in northern Schwabing. Cooperative housing, a central park, preserved mature trees and cultural facilities give it a family-oriented and community-minded atmosphere. The connection to Schwabing adds dense residential streets, university life and a long cultural tradition, while quieter side streets preserve a strong neighborhood scale. The conversion of former military land is part of the area’s identity: retained barracks or institutional structures stand beside new housing, schools and public spaces. Housing, offices and local services now overlap with traces of the former use, creating a quarter whose new identity still remains connected to earlier layers of the site. The institution is not an isolated object: opening hours, deliveries and flows of employees or visitors shape surrounding streets and public spaces throughout the day.
