Zeilsheim-Süd
City part: West | State: 2025
Zeilsheim-Süd contains the historic village core around Alt-Zeilsheim and extends toward fields at Frankfurt's western boundary. Narrow streets, former farmsteads and the Bartholomäuskirche preserve a distinct small-town structure. Later settlements such as Friedenau and the Märchensiedlung introduce planned residential architecture outside the old centre. The district's combination of village fabric, workers' housing history and immediate access to open countryside distinguishes it from the more infrastructural northern and eastern sections. In Frankfurt’s statistical structure, Zeilsheim-Süd is associated with the broader Zeilsheim area. What makes the area distinctive is the legible contrast between inherited settlement patterns and later housing, infrastructure or redevelopment. Older plot boundaries, street widths and surviving buildings make the area’s history visible in everyday movement, even where later development has altered the wider setting.
