Höchst-West

Höchst-West is a predominantly residential extension of Höchst between the historic centre and Unterliederbach. It contains apartment blocks, local institutions and quieter side streets, with less tourist activity than the old town and less heavy industry than the southern riverfront. Connections toward the railway station, the Höchst hospital area and western neighbourhoods structure daily movement. The district functions as a practical residential transition within the broader Höchst urban centre. In Frankfurt’s statistical structure, Höchst-West is associated with the broader Höchst area. What makes the area distinctive is the legible contrast between inherited settlement patterns and later housing, infrastructure or redevelopment. Older plot boundaries, street widths and surviving buildings make the area’s history visible in everyday movement, even where later development has altered the wider setting.
