Thalkirchen: Gierlinger Park
City part: Thalkirchen-Obersendling-Forstenried-Fürstenried-Solln | State: 2024
Gierlinger Park is the principal green space in this part of Thalkirchen. Paths, trees and open ground interrupt the surrounding built fabric, creating room for walking, play and informal encounters close to home. The edges are especially characteristic: ordinary streets give way quickly to a quieter landscape, while nearby housing keeps the space embedded in daily neighbourhood life. Thalkirchen is a green southern district along the Isar, known for the zoo entrance, Flaucher, rafting canal and village-like center. The Isar provides a continuous recreational corridor, linking riverbanks, cycling routes, swimming places and wooded slopes across several neighboring quarters. Private gardens and mature tree canopies soften the architecture, provide privacy and make seasonal change unusually present in the streetscape. Water is not only a backdrop here; it directs walking and cycling routes, opens long views and creates informal places for rest, sport and summer recreation.
