Obere Isarau: Nord
City part: Schwabing-Freimann | State: 2024
Nord forms a distinct residential sub-area within Obere Isarau. Its character comes from the relationship between building scale, private or shared green space and the short routes used in everyday life. Larger roads and local centres remain accessible, but the interior is experienced mainly through entrances, courtyards, gardens and quieter streets. The Isar provides a continuous recreational corridor, linking riverbanks, cycling routes, swimming places and wooded slopes across several neighboring quarters. The forest edge changes the area’s daily geography: ordinary residential streets quickly open onto longer walking and cycling routes with a noticeably quieter soundscape. Water is not only a backdrop here; it directs walking and cycling routes, opens long views and creates informal places for rest, sport and summer recreation. Waterside routes support walking, cycling and informal rest, allowing recreation to be integrated into ordinary routines rather than requiring a separate excursion.
