Maximilianeum: Kreppe
City part: Au-Haidhausen | State: 2024
Kreppe is a small historic settlement area with low-rise homes, gardens and a quiet local scale. Its narrow streets and modest architecture preserve a sense of older suburban Munich. Narrow local streets, modest low-rise houses and gardens retain the scale of older suburban Munich and give the small settlement a quiet, rooted identity. Older farmsteads, church settings, plot boundaries and inherited street lines are not merely historical remnants; they still guide orientation and give the area a smaller scale than the surrounding city. Later housing has grown around the older core without completely erasing it, creating short but legible transitions between farmstead scale, suburban streets and newer urban development. The quieter street rhythm, gardens and familiar local routes give everyday life a small-scale quality, while nearby transport and services keep the area connected to the wider city.
