Industriebezirk: Angerloh-Siedlung
City part: Allach-Untermenzing | State: 2024
The Angerloh-Siedlung lies close to the wooded Angerlohe and combines suburban housing with direct access to nature. Gardens, quiet streets and the forest edge give the settlement a particularly green atmosphere. The forest edge changes the area’s daily geography: ordinary residential streets quickly open onto longer walking and cycling routes with a noticeably quieter soundscape. The hierarchy between access roads, pedestrian routes, shared courtyards and larger green spaces makes the original planning idea easy to understand on foot. Mature trees and adapted everyday uses now soften the repetition of the original building types, adding variety and a stronger sense of lived-in continuity. Shared open spaces support play, informal encounters and short everyday routes, giving the ensemble a stronger neighborhood function than its architectural repetition might suggest. Repeated building types create visual order, while courtyards, lawns and internal paths break down the scale and support play, walking and informal contact.
