Neuallermöhe: Allermöher See

Allermöher See is the clearest local landscape element in this part of Neuallermöhe. Water and the spaces immediately around it influence routes, views and the amount of openness between the surrounding streets, giving this micro-area a character that differs from drier and more densely built parts of the district. Treating Allermöher See separately helps bring the waterside setting and its everyday recreational value into the description. Fleetplatz and smaller local centres concentrate shops, schools, childcare and community facilities, while the Allermöher See is a popular place for swimming, sport and summer recreation. Neuallermöhe’s special quality is its clearly planned relationship between housing and water: unlike the historic dike villages around it, the district interprets the marsh landscape through modern canals, compact development and a network of car-free green routes. The wider character of Neuallermöhe remains visible, but around Allermöher See it is filtered through a distinctly local scale, making this a more useful description for comparing nearby places to live.
