Bornheim: Im Herrnbruch
City part: Bornheim/Ostend | State: 2025
Im Herrnbruch is a quieter residential pocket on the eastern side of Bornheim, close to the transition toward Seckbach. The streets contain post-war apartment buildings, smaller housing groups, gardens and green courtyards rather than the dense Gründerzeit blocks around lower Berger Straße. Local schools, playgrounds and everyday services support a family-oriented routine, while the nearby slopes and open spaces around Bornheimer Hang provide walking connections and a sense of distance from the inner city. Seckbacher Landstraße and the U4 terminus remain within reach, but through traffic is concentrated on the larger roads at the edge, leaving many internal streets calm. The area has fewer cafés and destination shops than central Bornheim, so daily life is more residential and locally focused. Its appeal lies in the balance between urban access and a looser, greener layout. Im Herrnbruch shows a less familiar side of Bornheim: practical post-war housing, short routes to recreation and a gradual transition from the lively city district to Frankfurt’s eastern residential fringe.
