Untere Au: Frühlingsanlagen
City part: Au-Haidhausen | State: 2024
The Frühlingsanlagen form a leafy park strip along the Isar south of the city center. Lawns, playgrounds and riverside paths make the area a popular everyday retreat for nearby residents. The Isar provides a continuous recreational corridor, linking riverbanks, cycling routes, swimming places and wooded slopes across several neighboring quarters. Water is not only a backdrop here; it directs walking and cycling routes, opens long views and creates informal places for rest, sport and summer recreation. Seasonal change is part of the experience: shade, flowering vegetation, autumn color and winter openness alter both the appearance and the intensity of use. Continuous paths link neighboring streets and districts, allowing the green space to function as both a destination and part of the everyday walking and cycling network. At its edges, the shift from traffic and built frontage to vegetation and open ground is often immediate, which gives the landscape a strong restorative effect.
