Lochhausen: Neulangwied
City part: Aubing-Lochhausen-Langwied | State: 2024
Neulangwied and Lochhausen combine village remnants, suburban housing and broad open landscapes in Munich’s west. Fields, lakes, low-rise streets and the S-Bahn create a distinctive mix of countryside and commuter life. Older farmsteads, church settings, plot boundaries and inherited street lines are not merely historical remnants; they still guide orientation and give the area a smaller scale than the surrounding city. Private gardens and mature tree canopies soften the architecture, provide privacy and make seasonal change unusually present in the streetscape. Water is not only a backdrop here; it directs walking and cycling routes, opens long views and creates informal places for rest, sport and summer recreation. Strong public-transport access makes the area useful to a wider catchment, but also concentrates movement, noise and commercial activity around the main stops and corridors.
