Lerchenau West: Kolonie Eggarten
City part: Feldmoching-Hasenbergl | State: 2024
The Kolonie Eggarten was a historic garden and railway settlement with small self-built houses, large plots and unusually mature vegetation. Old trees and semi-wild greenery still shape its identity as the area transitions toward a new residential quarter. The current redevelopment concept deliberately carries the former garden-settlement identity forward as a model quarter for cooperative housing, climate-friendly energy, sustainable mobility and the sponge-city principle, with new public and private green space. Private gardens and mature tree canopies soften the architecture, provide privacy and make seasonal change unusually present in the streetscape. Housing, offices and local services now overlap with traces of the former use, creating a quarter whose new identity still remains connected to earlier layers of the site. Strong public-transport access makes the area useful to a wider catchment, but also concentrates movement, noise and commercial activity around the main stops and corridors.
