Feldmoching: Dreiseenplatte
City part: Feldmoching-Hasenbergl | State: 2024
The Dreiseenplatte is a major recreational landscape in northern Munich, centered on the Feldmochinger, Fasanerie and Lerchenauer lakes. Swimming, cycling and broad green spaces create a summer-oriented atmosphere that feels far removed from the dense city. All three lakes originated as gravel pits from the 1930s onward, but their settings now differ markedly: open fields dominate at Feldmochinger See, mature shaded banks at Fasaneriesee and a more urban skyline at Lerchenauer See. Water is not only a backdrop here; it directs walking and cycling routes, opens long views and creates informal places for rest, sport and summer recreation. The river, lake or canal provides a clear line of orientation and opens the urban fabric, making distance and direction easier to perceive than in enclosed street blocks. Waterside routes support walking, cycling and informal rest, allowing recreation to be integrated into ordinary routines rather than requiring a separate excursion.
