Am Waldfriedhof: Mittersendling III
City part: Sendling-Westpark | State: 2024
Mittersendling III combines post-war housing, local shops and green residential courtyards within the wider Sendling transport landscape. Its calm internal streets create a stable neighborhood atmosphere. Sendling contributes a working-city tradition, railway and market infrastructure, and close access to the Isar, resulting in a grounded and highly practical urban character. The separation of traffic, housing and green space reveals the planning ideals of the post-war period, but mature vegetation has made the ensemble feel more settled and less schematic over time. Ground-floor shops, cafés and everyday services keep the streets active and make many routine needs reachable without leaving the immediate area. Strong public-transport access makes the area useful to a wider catchment, but also concentrates movement, noise and commercial activity around the main stops and corridors. The hierarchy between access roads, pedestrian routes, shared courtyards and larger green spaces makes the original planning idea easy to understand on foot.
