Wellingsbüttel: Rabenhorst
City part: Wandsbek | State: 2025
The subarea known as Rabenhorst gives this part of Wellingsbüttel a more precise local identity. It is best understood through the immediate combination of housing, everyday routes, nearby open space and the way local streets connect with the rest of the district. Treating Rabenhorst separately helps expose small-scale differences in urban form and daily life that are easily lost when Wellingsbüttel is described only as one large area. The Alster and its paths provide a continuous green route for walking, running and cycling, with bridges, meadows and woodland giving much of the district a park-like atmosphere. Residential streets are low-rise and spacious, joined by a limited number of well-kept apartment buildings. Local shops, schools and sports facilities cover everyday needs, with the larger Alstertal centre close by. Through traffic is concentrated on a few roads, leaving many streets calm.
