Sülldorf: Schlankweg
City part: Altona | State: 2025
Schlankweg runs through one of the most rural parts of Sülldorf and is a useful local reference for the transition between Hamburg’s suburban housing and the Sülldorf field landscape. The street name comes from an old field term, and the route itself still reflects that setting: sections function as a residential access street while others continue toward fields and agricultural land. The Schlankweggraben drainage ditch follows part of the route before extending through cultivated fields, making water management as visible here as roads or buildings. Nearby Sülldorf retains an unusually well-preserved Geest village structure with farms, horse keeping and agricultural businesses, while denser housing lies beyond the railway and the B431. The S-Bahn station is not immediately on Schlankweg, so everyday errands often involve walking, cycling or bus connections toward the local centre. The result is a quiet, low-density edge-of-city environment in which gardens, fields and working agricultural land remain part of ordinary daily views.
