Rahlstedt: Greifenbergpark
City part: Wandsbek | State: 2025
Greifenbergpark is the main local green reference point in this part of Rahlstedt. The open or wooded landscape changes the scale of the surrounding streets and gives nearby housing a stronger connection to nature than the broader district description suggests. Paths, mature vegetation and the contrast between built-up blocks and open space are therefore central to the identity of this micro-area. It includes distinct areas such as Alt-Rahlstedt, Oldenfelde, Meiendorf and Großlohe, so its housing ranges from historic village streets and villas to post-war estates, towers and extensive family neighbourhoods. Rahlstedt’s centre around the regional station and pedestrian shopping streets provides retail, schools, medical services and public facilities for a wide catchment. The Wandse and its green routes cross the district, and the Höltigbaum nature reserve together with the Stellmoorer Tunneltal protects heath, woodland, wetland and archaeological landscapes near the city boundary.
