Jenfeld: Jenfelder Moor
City part: Wandsbek | State: 2025
Jenfelder Moor is the main local green reference point in this part of Jenfeld. The open or wooded landscape changes the scale of the surrounding streets and gives nearby housing a stronger connection to nature than the broader district description suggests. Paths, mature vegetation and the contrast between built-up blocks and open space are therefore central to the identity of this micro-area. Small houses and established residential streets survive around the historic centre, while larger apartment complexes and housing from the 1960s and 1970s shape other parts. On the former Lettow-Vorbeck barracks, the Jenfelder Au has become a green mixed neighbourhood with apartments, townhouses, workplaces and a network of ponds and paths; its innovative water-cycle concept makes infrastructure part of the development idea. Jenfeld has no rapid-transit station, so buses and nearby motorway access are central to mobility, and through traffic remains noticeable.
