Hummelsbüttel: Immenredder
City part: Wandsbek | State: 2025
The subarea known as Immenredder gives this part of Hummelsbüttel a more precise local identity. It is best understood through the immediate combination of housing, everyday routes, nearby open space and the way local streets connect with the rest of the district. Treating Immenredder separately helps expose small-scale differences in urban form and daily life that are easily lost when Hummelsbüttel is described only as one large area. Detached homes and quiet residential streets dominate many areas, while the Tegelsbarg estate introduces denser apartment housing and a stronger local service centre. The district has no rail station of its own, so buses connect residents with Poppenbüttel, Langenhorn and the airport area. Hummelsbüttel’s special quality is the close meeting of ordinary suburban life with genuine moor, river and agricultural landscapes, giving very different neighbourhoods a shared orientation toward nature.
