Heimfeld: Landscheide
City part: Harburg | State: 2025
Landscheide is the main local green reference point in this part of Heimfeld. The open or wooded landscape changes the scale of the surrounding streets and gives nearby housing a stronger connection to nature than the broader district description suggests. Paths, mature vegetation and the contrast between built-up blocks and open space are therefore central to the identity of this micro-area. Toward central Harburg, local shops, cafés, hospitals and the S-Bahn create an urban everyday environment, while railway lines and port-related industry remain visible at the northern edge. West of the built-up area, Meyers Park opens into more than thirty hectares of woodland and meadows; paths continue through the Haake toward the Harburg hills. Heimfeld’s special character lies in this unusually close connection between university life, Harburg’s industrial history and extensive woodland, all within a short journey of the district centre and Hamburg’s inner city.
