Eppendorf: Kellinghusenpark
City part: Hamburg-Nord | State: 2025
Kellinghusenpark is the main local green reference point in this part of Eppendorf. The open or wooded landscape changes the scale of the surrounding streets and gives nearby housing a stronger connection to nature than the broader district description suggests. Paths, mature vegetation and the contrast between built-up blocks and open space are therefore central to the identity of this micro-area. Eppendorfer Landstraße and Eppendorfer Baum form lively local axes with boutiques, cafés, restaurants and everyday services, while side streets are quieter and often lined with ornate Wilhelminian façades. The Alster, Tarpenbek and connecting canals create a strong relationship with water; paths through Hayns Park and along the river are central recreational routes. The University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf is one of the district’s largest institutions and brings a constant flow of staff, students and visitors, adding a major employment and research function to the residential environment.
