Westend: Neu Westend
City part: Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf | State: 2025
Neu Westend is a residential area in Charlottenburg defined by villas, embassies and proximity to the Olympic grounds and Grunewald. Neu Westend is shaped above all by lower building density, detached homes, private gardens and comparatively little through traffic. In Neu Westend, the daily character emerges through larger plots, mature planting and a slower rhythm than in Berlin’s inner-city blocks. Neu Westend lies in the borough of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, about 10 km west of central Berlin. Neu Westend merges gradually into Branitzer Platz and Olympiagelände; building scale, street activity and open space change before any clear boundary is felt. The immediate streets and open spaces give Neu Westend a recognisable local identity of its own. The character of Neu Westend is clearest along everyday routes between homes, public space and nearby destinations. Within Westend, Neu Westend stands out through the sense of privacy and local continuity found at the metropolitan edge.
