Rudow: Alt-Rudow
City part: Neukölln | State: 2025
Alt-Rudow is the historic core of Rudow, with village-like character, detached houses and a quieter residential atmosphere. The defining local feature of Alt-Rudow is the surviving older street pattern, plot structure and building lines that remain legible beneath later development. How Alt-Rudow is used over the course of the day depends on the overlap of historic fabric with present-day housing, shops and local institutions. Alt-Rudow lies in the borough of Neukölln, about 13 km southeast of central Berlin. The transitions from Alt-Rudow toward Landschaftspark Adlershof and Waltersdorfer Chaussee Ost are gradual, marked by changes in building form, traffic and greenery. Around Alt-Rudow, even a few minutes on foot can bring noticeable changes in noise, greenery and access to everyday services. Together, these elements make the continuity of the original settlement within modern Berlin central to the identity of Alt-Rudow.
