Oberschöneweide: Wuhlheide
City part: Treptow-Köpenick | State: 2025
Wuhlheide is one of Berlin’s largest forest parks, known for open-air stages, sports facilities and extensive green space. Wuhlheide is shaped above all by the open landscape of paths, mature vegetation and spaces used for walking, play and informal recreation. In Wuhlheide, the daily character emerges through seasonal change, longer sightlines and a noticeably quieter rhythm than on nearby built-up streets. Wuhlheide lies in the borough of Treptow-Köpenick, about 11 km southeast of central Berlin. Wuhlheide merges gradually into Griechischer Park and Dammheide; building scale, street activity and open space change before any clear boundary is felt. The immediate streets and open spaces give Wuhlheide a recognisable local identity of its own. The character of Wuhlheide is clearest along everyday routes between homes, public space and nearby destinations. Within Oberschöneweide, Wuhlheide stands out through the everyday value of a green space that is more than a visual backdrop.
