Neu-Hohenschönhausen: Zingster Straße Ost

Zingster Straße Ost forms part of a large residential estate with prefabricated buildings and open spaces. The defining local feature of Zingster Straße Ost is the deliberate relationship between housing blocks, pedestrian paths and clearly structured shared open space. How Zingster Straße Ost is used over the course of the day depends on repeated building types, green courtyards and the separation of through traffic from internal routes. Zingster Straße Ost lies in the borough of Lichtenberg, about 8.6 km northeast of central Berlin. From Zingster Straße Ost toward Wartenberg Nord and Zingster Straße West, density, land use and street character shift step by step rather than at a sharp edge. The character of Zingster Straße Ost is clearest along everyday routes between homes, public space and nearby destinations. Together, these elements make the smaller everyday zones that exist inside a large planned layout central to the identity of Zingster Straße Ost.
