Hellersdorf: Zossener Straße
City part: Marzahn-Hellersdorf | State: 2025
Zossener Straße is a planned housing area shaped mainly by twentieth-century development in the borough of Marzahn-Hellersdorf. The local streetscape is chiefly defined by apartment buildings and compact residential blocks; planned housing, courtyards and clearly structured open spaces; larger apartment blocks and high-rise buildings; as well as local shops and everyday services. The everyday rhythm of Zossener Straße is shaped by repeated building types, green courtyards and the separation of through traffic from internal routes. Zossener Straße lies about 13 km east of central Berlin. The transitions from Zossener Straße toward Kyritzer Straße and Havelländer Ring are gradual, marked by changes in building form, traffic and greenery. The immediate streets and open spaces give Zossener Straße a recognisable local identity of its own. This gives Zossener Straße a distinctive quality: the smaller everyday zones that exist inside a large planned layout.
