Falkenhagener Feld: Griesingerstraße
City part: Spandau | State: 2025
Griesingerstraße is a planned residential area with substantial open space in the borough of Spandau. The local streetscape is chiefly defined by apartment buildings and compact residential blocks; planned housing, courtyards and clearly structured open spaces; major roads, traffic flows and visible transport infrastructure; as well as parks, mature trees and everyday green space. The everyday rhythm of Griesingerstraße is shaped by repeated building types, green courtyards and the separation of through traffic from internal routes. Griesingerstraße lies about 17 km west of central Berlin. The transitions from Griesingerstraße toward Im Spektefeld and Hakenfelde Nord are gradual, marked by changes in building form, traffic and greenery. The immediate streets and open spaces give Griesingerstraße a recognisable local identity of its own. This gives Griesingerstraße a distinctive quality: the smaller everyday zones that exist inside a large planned layout.
